Yes, I know that has nothing to do with knitting… but it’s true. Such a simple concept, and it works so well – I just have to spread it around as much as possible. Go check it out. Sign up. Get books. Give books. Let there be joy!
I’m visiting my parents and brother in Maine this weekend, which means several things:
1) I can finally get pictures of the hats I made for my brother and his girlfriend, and the mittens I made for my mother.
2) I can (hopefully) finish the hat I promised my mother. It’s crocheted and a really wonky pattern that I’m pretty much making up as I go along, because my mom doesn’t like normal hats – it has to have bulk at the back of her head – so I’ve made a really big crown, and I need to decrease unevenly so that it will be more gathered in the back. And she needs to decide whether or not she wants a brim. So I really need to have her around in order to work on it.
3) If she ever makes up her mind, I might be finished swatching for the lace scarf (to match the hat and mittens) I’m making for my mother – and then I can actually start working on the scarf itself!

There’s nothing like randomly waking up at 3:30 a.m. and NEEDING to order yarn online. Good thing I didn’t make any silly de-stash pledge to not buy yarn… oh… right.
